Join us for the Annual Labor Day Retreat, where we each take the risk of sharing our deepest inspirations and aspirations with each other. What emerges is magic; we connect with each other from a new place of intimacy, creating new self-awareness, and perhaps making lifelong friendships—one of the retreat's greatest gifts.

In large and small group activities, we will draw from our personal inner beauty to create and play in a supportive community. Other workshops will include breath and movement, poetry, different expressions of art and playfulness. Through sharing our experiences, we can expand the power we have as gifted and colorful gay men.

About the Hosts

John Salvato has had years of experience facilitating workshops on diversity and human relations to educators. He has written curricula that are inclusive of gay-positive lessons, and continues to be an advocate for eliminating homophobia in schools. He is currently teaching at a small Long Island college, training future teachers and leading anti-bullying workshops for new teachers. John has created a workshop for the gay community called Sports for Fairies that, in a playful, non-threatening way explores feelings and memories of dreaded gym classes. Everybody becomes first on the team. John also leads Deeper Dating workshops, has been the New York Coordinator for Body Electric for twelve years, and a leader at the Labor Day retreat for four years.

Frank Carson has been a loving presence in the NYC Gay Community and at Easton Mountain and Rowe Retreat Centers for many years. Frank is a training consultant for non-profit organizations; and the former Assistant Director for Volunteers, Training, and Community Education at Gay Men’s Health Crisis.

John Ballew is a licensed professional counselor and massage therapist in private practice in Atlanta. He has an MS in Clinical Psychology and is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. He facilitates workshops in gay spirituality throughout North America, emphasizing the connection between body and soul. John is one of the leading Body Electric instructors in the country. In all his work, John embraces Eastern spiritual practices and a sex-positive Christian tradition.
